Since 2018 - Productive transformations and potential social impacts on Brazilian Economy

The project studies potential impacts of the fourth industrial revolution given the intrinsec dependency between the productive structure and labor market. Based on the seminal work of Frey & Osborne (2013) and OCDE (2016) technical report, this work develops some scenarios where potential social and economic impacts are evaluated, focusing on their effects on employees and changes on the demand of their capabilities. Initial results reported in (in spanish, as a working paper):

 

This paper

show the vulnerability of labor force due to ist actual composition. Results also put in evidence the need of retraining efforts in order to facilitate reallocation of workers and the acquisiton of skills necessary for this future works.

Since 2017 - Technological and non-technological determinants of Brazilian foreign competitiveness.


The project seeks to analyze the competitiveness of national firms by separating the effects between technological and non-technological effects. By technological effects we mean the product and process innovations and their effects on the export performance of firms. Non-technological effects are mainly defined as low-cost policies, especially of the labor force. Leader: Paulo Ricardo da Silva Oliveira. Other participants: Ivette Luna.
